Sean McDermott, the developer for the which headed up the CVS project, said he’s pleased with the way it’s turned out.
It’s a plus, he added, that many of the initially skeptical residents also appreciate the finished product.
“It’s still difficult to see church come down, and you can never replace that, but CVS genuinely put its best foot forward,” he said. “I appreciate CVS’ attention to detail and its willingness to be a part of the neighborhood. The building fits the neighborhood.”
Different from the national chain’s other pharmacies, the new CVS incorporates some , including the reuse of the stone-carved building accents at the entrance and sandstone along the curb.
“Our job is to make sure that it’s high quality in Lakewood — whether is CVS, GetGo or McDonald’s,” said Dru Siley, the city’s director of planning and development. "For anyone who’s doing development in Lakewood, their project has to fit Lakewood — not the other way around.”
