Earthquake Felt in Lakewood

Residents share their quake experience with Lakewood Patch.

Lakewood apparently shook a little on Tuesday afternoon as a 5.8-magnitude earthquake that was centered in Virginia rocked the region.

And some Lakewood residents felt it.

A Lakewood Fire Department dispatcher said there were no reports of any serious quake activity.

The Huffington Post reports the quake was felt from Virginia to New York and possibly farther north.

We thought we'd share some of the experiences by a few residents:

Jeannine Petrus: I was just sitting at my desk and all of a sudden I felt things shaking. And I thought 'what is that?' I heard glass rattling on a bookshelf in the office next door.

Nina Smith: It felt like it feels when my foster dogs ram into the punching bag hanging in the basement and the floor moves on the first floor where I'm usually sitting on the couch...only this time the dogs were outside so I thought I was losing it until I saw posts from other people about the earthquake.

Suzanne Nilges Pollack: For me, it was a continuous sort of tremble, which lasted long enough for me to wonder what was going on ... I can't relate it to anything I've ever felt before.

Angie Richards: (I'm on the) ‎20th floor downtown Cleveland, yup we felt it.
