Hundreds attended a special ceremony at Fire Station No. 1 on Sunday to remember and honor the 343 firefighters who died on 9/11, along with the four Lakewood firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
The memorial was unveiled to the community in an hourlong event with firefighters, local elected leaders and residents in attendance.
Using steel beams from the World Trade Center — the city built a permanent memorial to honor fallen firefighters.
