Here are the top three stories in Lakewood today:

  1. A grand jury has indicted four people for the murder of a Lakewood man. The Cuyahoga County Grand Jury indicted three men and one woman accused in the murder of a 47-year-old Lakewood man named Victor Huff; the suspects will be arraigned today. The four suspects are being held at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center. (Cleveland 19 News)
  2. Police investigated the grand theft of a vehicle and multiple attempted vehicle thefts this month. According to the Lakewood Police Blotter, a man called the police department on Aug. 9 to report a vehicle was missing from the parking lot of a Lake Avenue condominium. Two days later, on Aug. 11, two separate attempted thefts of a vehicle were reported at Newman Ave. and Cove Ave. (cleveland.com)
  3. Many Northeast Ohio schools have opened with loosened COVID protocols, meaning masks and social distancing are not required. Earlier this month, the Ohio Department of Health sent guidance to all K-12 schools earlier this month, noting Ohio is in a “much better position” to protect students and staff due to stronger immunities from vaccines and prior illnesses. According to Christine Gordillo, a spokesperson for Lakewood Public School District, classrooms and common spaces will regularly be sanitized. (ideastream)
