  1. Multiple Lakewood coffee shops made Cleveland Scene's list of "25 Essential Cleveland Coffee Shops." The Root Cafe, located at 15118 Detroit Ave. made the list for its locally-brewed coffee from Duck Rabbit and Rising Star coffee, and fully vegan and vegetarian menu. Other names on the list include Goodkind, Caffeine, and Brewella’s Coffee, Crepes and Collectibles. (Cleveland Scene)
  2. After the success of Lakewood’s Tree Advisory and Education Board Most Distinguished Tree contest, Lakewoodites will have a new chance to win. From Oct. 1 through Oct. 26, The Lakewood Observer Halloween Decorating Contest will be looking for decorations. Voting will take place from Oct. 28 to Oct. 31 and the winner will be announced on Nov. 1. (Lakewood Observer)
  3. A Lakewood High School senior backed up musician Machine Gun Kelly. Lydia Kress, an orchestra student at LHS, was part of a Cleveland Contemporary Youth Orchestra quartet that backed up Machine Gun Kelly for two songs during his Aug. 13 concert at FirstEnergy Stadium.
