Lakewood Summer Meltdown: Five Things You Need to Know
The third-annual event is set for this Saturday.
The third annual hits the road this Saturday on Detroit Avenue between Mars and Marlowe avenues in downtown Lakewood.

- The event last from 4 to 10 p.m., with the Kids Run at 5 p.m. and the 5K race at 7 p.m.
- Parking is available in the Standard Parking Garage north of Detroit between St. Charles and Belle avenue for $3. Only accessible from the north.
- Food trucks will be on hand. They are: Mad Mouth Gyros, Fired Up Tacos, Umami Moto and Touch Supper Truck.
- Music: DJ from Kid Productions, Burning River Ramblers
- Last, but not least, there will be a beer garden, from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.
The Lakewood Summer Meltdown 5K is just one of 10 races being held in Lakewood this year. The race course begins and ends in historic downtown Lakewood and features a DJ and sprinkler zone at the turn.
The Meltdown Event includes the Street Party/Streetwalk from years past, featuring “active-living” programs from more than 40 businesses and nonprofit organizations. There are dozens of interactive opportunities, including a sprinkler park, 1-mile fun run, fencing, yoga, skateboarding and jazzercise on Detroit Avenue from 4 to 7 p.m.
