Lakewood's Newest Art Gallery Hosts Grand Opening, First Show

Breakneck Gallery opened its doors in August at 17020 Madison Avenue, in the space most-recently occupied by the Pop Shop Gallery.

But on Saturday, the new gallery officially kicked off the party with a showing at its two large storefronts on Madison Avenue.

was packed with people as the gallery featured a reception the show “Cinematic Redux II, curated by Chad Kimes — also known as CHOD.

The show featured the work of at least 50 local artists.

Breakneck co-owner Kristen Burns, who runs the business with her husband, Sean Burns, said the gallery will host its grand opening on Oct. 8 — just in time for Halloween.

"I'd call this a success," she said."We haven't sold any of our big pieces yet. I say 'yet' because with the prices some of these people have them at, I am guessing we're going to clear a lot of this out."

Breakneck Gallery is open from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday; from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday; and 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
