Letter to the Editor: Your Street Needs You
The Lakewood Block Club program looking for some residents to pitch in.

Editor's note: This letter to the editor was submitted by Lakewood Block Club Coordinator Mike Tuttle.
The Lakewood Block Club program is alive and well thanks to the commitment of Mayor Michael Summers, City Council and the hard working Block Captains throughout the city.
Block Captains work hand in hand with Ward Police Officers, City Departments and members of their Block Clubs. We thank these hard working Residents for helping keep their streets safer, cleaner and generally a friendlier place to live. They do their best to make the street they live on a "neighborhood" in the truest sense of the word, Crime and nuisance issues happen in all neighborhoods.

Block Captains Help keep problems to a minimum by informing all residents when suspicious behavior is noticed by any resident. The more eyes on the street, the safer that street will be.
Ward Police Officers also help to educate residents about easy ways to prevent becoming a victim.

Simple actions like: locking cars, keeping valuables out of parked cars and keeping porch lights on at night will discourage the average criminal from making you his next target.
If you are interested in helping form a Block Club on your street, please attend an informational meeting in the City Hall Auditorium at 12650 Detroit on February 29, 2012 at 7:00 pm or Contact Block Club Coordinator Mike Tuttle at 529-6657 or email me.
