Man Faces Several Charges After Traffic Stop

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Drunk driving, failure to comply

A man charged with drunken driving in the early morning of July 27, will also face a charge of failure to comply with a traffic stop after he allegedly ignored the officers trying to pull him over. Police tried to stop the vehicle after the driver nearly struck a bicyclist on Detroit Avenue at around 12:30 a.m. July 27. When the driver finally stopped, just minutes later on Madison and Lakewood avenues, he was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, failure to comply and driving under suspension. During the brief pursuit, speeds never reached more than 30 mph, according to the report.

A man and woman were fighting in the 1400 block of Riverside Drive at around 9 a.m. July 24. The woman tried to leave with the man on the hood, when the man “jumped off and pulled (her) out of the car.” That’s when they started hitting each other. Officers broke up the argument and the two went on their way.

Man masturbating in his car

A woman told police that there was a man masturbating in his car in the 1500 block of Victoria Avenue at around 4 p.m. July 24. She told officers that she was concerned because there were small children in the area.

Bicyclist hit by car

A man was struck by a car while riding his bike near the intersection of Lake and Nicholson avenues at around 1 p.m. July 24. He was treated at the scene for minor injuries. 

Man arrested with stun gun

A man was arrested and charged with a weapons offense after officers found that he had a stun gun at at around 8 p.m. July 24.

Marijuana cigarette found

A resident of the Northwesterly Apartments found a joint on the lawn of the property at around 11 a.m. July 26, and turned it over to the police.
