Here are the top three stories in Lakewood today:

  1. Cuyahoga County will likely contribute to an incentive package that will attract Irish airline Aer Lingus to Cleveland. The package is part of a larger incentive program coordinated by Team NEO to support economic development in the region. The airline will be providing nonstop service from Cleveland to Dublin, Ireland. The flights will likely launch in May 2023 if the deal goes through. (Cleveland.com)
  2. The next president and CEO of Cuyahoga County's public MetroHealth System will be Airica Steed. She is currently the chief operating officer of Sinai Chicago Health System and president of Mount Sinai and Sinai Children's Hospital. She is credited with improving the system's finances during the COVID-19 pandemic and is a nationally recognized healthcare leader. (Cleveland 19 News)
  3. Cuyahoga County has lost millions in an "unbalanced deal" with Cleveland on inmate housing. The estimate of the loss is currently $5 million, according to the county's Public Safety and Justice Affairs Committee. The city is compensating the county $99 per day to house an inmate.
