A gruesome discovery   A "bag of dead animals" was left in the hallway of an organization in the 14800 block of Detroit Avenue at around 1 p.m. Sept. 7. No word on how the animals died. Bank threatened A woman called the on Sept. 7 and said she was going to take a shotgun and "shoot it up" the bank. However, the woman didn't specify which of the two Lakewood branches she was angry with. Don't shoot — or bite — the messenger A dog in the 1600 block of Ridgewood Avenue wouldn't let the mailman off the porch at around 1 p.mm. Sept. 9. The dog was put back on the chain by the time the animal control officer showed up. A flying pink flamingo A plastic pink flamingo was tossed through the window of a 1200 Idlewood Avenue at around 3 a.m. Sept. 6. Improper use of a firearm Following a traffic stop on Franklin Avenue and W. 114th Street police charged a man with driving under suspension and the improper handling of a firearm at around 11 p.m. Sept. 6. Permitting drug abuse A woman in the 1500 block of Coutant Avenue was cited for permitting drug abuse at around 12:15 a.m. Sept. 7, after a man overdosed on heroin at her home.
