Police Blotter: Bar Fights, Burglary and an Unwanted Online Solicitation

This week in police news.

A man was charged with felonious assault after brawl broke out at Mullen’s on Madison in the early morning of April 27. He allegedly hit a patron in the head with a brick. The victim’s condition is not known.

Another bar fight

Police were called to the Corner Pub at 12301 Madison Avenue for a report of five people fighting inside the bar around 10 p.m. April 27. One man was charged with disorderly conduct and drug abuse.

Assault

Two men were arrested after a fight in the 1600 block of Hopkins Avenue around 2:30 a.m. April 22. One of the men was charged with assault, while the other faces a charge of disorderly conduct.

Knock knock. Wrong door.           

A woman called police around 3 a.m. April 22 after she heard banging on the front door of her Phelps Avenue home. When officers arrived, the man realized he was at the wrong home. He was cited for disorderly conduct.

Defrauding a cab driver

A woman in the 1400 block of Riverside Drive was cited for defrauding livery after she refused to pay a cab driver at around 1:50 a.m. April 23.

Unwanted solicitations

A woman came to the police station around 10:30 p.m. April 23 and told officers that her ex-boyfriend posted an ad online under her name seeking sexual encounters. The woman said people began showing up at her Lark Avenue home.

Attempted burglary

A woman in the 1600 block of Winchester Avenue told police that a man she didn’t know tried to break into her home just before 6 a.m. April 24. When officers arrived moments later, the man was gone.

Burglary

Two juveniles were arrested and charged with burglary after a house in the 1500 block of Lakeland Avenue was “completely ransacked” in the early morning of April 28. The boys, both riding bicycles, fled from officers but were both in custody by 4 a.m. They were also cited for drug paraphernalia, curfew and possessing criminal tools.
