Police Blotter: Police Assist Off-Duty Officer; Drunken Driving; and Copper Pipes Stolen

Driving under suspension, drug paraphernalia 

Following a traffic stop near the intersection of W. 117th Street and Carbon Avenue at around 2:20 a.m. July 14, a man charged with driving under suspension and drug paraphernalia.

Drunken driving

A car was struck by a pick-up truck in the parking lot of Taco Bell on Detroit Avenue at around 1 a.m. July 17. Police caught up with the driver minutes later at his residence in the 1300 block of Clarence Avenue. He was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Burglary

A man whose home is being remodeled in the 16500 block of Lake Avenue told police July 17 that “numerous items” had been stolen from his garage, including copper pipes.

Police help off-duty officer

Lakewood police officers assisted an off-duty Cleveland police officers who was involved in a fight with a would-be drunk driver after the off-duty officer tried to take the car keys away from the man in the 2200 block of Bunts Road at around 6 a.m. July 17.
