Power Restored After Storm Tears Through Lakewood
High winds bring down tree limbs, electrical wires during late-night storm on Wednesday.
Lakewood is cleaning up the mess left by a thunderstorm that rumbled through Northeast Ohio late Wednesday night.
The storm's high winds downed tree limbs, power lines and left more than 1,000 residents without power.
By Thursday afternoon, most of the power was restored to the city, except for a portion of Virginia Avenue, according to city officials.

And Thursday, throughout the day, city crews were out cleaning up the wreckage. For most of the day, several traffic signals on the southwest side of city were out of order.
Some of the older trees along Clifton Boulevard had limbs taken down during the storm, which also brought down several electrical wires.
“We didn’t have too many issues,” said Joe Beno, the city’s director of public works. “Other areas got it a lot worse.”
