Principal Caught in a Sticky Situation

Blake Prewitt, a Lakewood resident, allows students at St. Joseph Academy to fasten him to a wall to raise money for a new audio system.

A couple of administrators at Saint Joseph Academy in nearby West Park were caught in quite a sticky situation last week.

Quite literally.

The principal of Saint Joseph Academy, Blake Preweitt — a Lakewood resident — and assistant principal Emily Hanson allowed themselves to be fastened to the wall of the all-girls school with duct tape to raise money for a new audio system at the school.

St. Joe’s spokeswoman Susan Love said that hundreds of students bought strips of gold, purple and jaguar-paw duct tape and used the it to attach Prewitt and Hanson securely to the wall.

The goal, in addition to raising money for the audio system, was to make sure neither administrator could detach themselves, said Love.

The sticky fundraiser — organized by STARTS, the school’s visual and performing arts parents booster organization — brought in more than $400 for the audio system.
