Road Riders Hit the Pavement in Lakewood

Group meets each week to ride all over the county — the event is open to all.

Each Wednesday night through the summer, dozens of bicycle enthusiasts will hit the streets in Lakewood.

The Wednesday Night Road Ride group — organized by  — toured the area Wednesday with five groups of riders at several skill levels.

There were nearly 70 riders.

“There isn’t a designated route each week,” said Ray Wagner, Road Ride organizer and co-owner of . “Anybody can do it — you just need a helmet and a working bicycle.”

The ride usually takes a couple hours, so riders are encouraged to bring a water bottle.

Wagner said that even when it’s rainy heavy, there are riders still rolling in the rain.

Skill levels range from very novice to very skilled, he said.

The cyclists leave Spin Bike Shop each week at 6:10 p.m. sharp. The weekly event is open to all, and there is no cost to participate.
