Safety Forces Training At Lakewood High This Week

If you see police cars and fire trucks at the high school, don't freak out.

LAKEWOOD, OH β€” Don't panic if you see police and firefighters at Lakewood High School this week. The city's safety forces will use the school as training grounds this week.

Training exercises will be held Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m. Emergency vehicles will be at the high school campus during those time.

"We wanted to share this information in case concerns arose from seeing large number of fire and police vehicles on site," the Lakewood Schools said on social media.

During the training, personnel will focus on getting medics into simulated active shooter situations.

"Our goal in participating in the training is to ensure that with have clear communication with Fire Department personnel as well as clear expectations of what they will and will not do in these situations," said Lakewood Police Chief Kevin Kaucheck.

Lakewood High School is on spring break until March 21.
