Snapshot: Lakewood Studentsβ Artwork Picked for Governorβs Youth Art Exhibit
Six pieces to hang in Columbus; 14 pieces honored at regional level.
Five students are catching the attention of state officials in Columbus.
That's because their artwork will be part of theΒ prestigious Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition β on display at theΒ James A. Rhodes State Office Tower from April through May.
The five students are Brenna Dobos (painting), Nicole Matthews (two photographs), Kelly McKee (painting), Bram Myers (drawing), and Elizabeth Taucher (video).

Their artΒ was chosen to be one of the 350 pieces out of 12,000 entries submitted to be on display in ColumbusΒ
According to a Lakewood Schools press release,Β the exhibition is open to all of Ohio's 1,112 high schools, both public and private, chartered by the State of Ohio Department of Education.

βThis is a major honor for our art students at LHS,β said art teacher Amy Sedlak in a statement.
The process of selecting artworksΒ for the state exhibition begins with 15 regional judgings, according to the press release.
This year Lakewood High had 15 pieces by 10 students win at the regional level and advance to state competition.
They are Jessica Balmer, Montaque Cockrell, Lis Demmitt, Brenna Dobos, Nathan Manthey, Nicole Matthews, Kelly McKee, Bram Myers, Kaitlin Stanaitis and David Torrence.Β
