The street party will run from 7 to 10 p.m. near Belle and Detroit avenues where folks will enjoy traditional and gourmet fare, entertainment, an eclectic mix of rock music and a silent auction.

All proceeds from the twilight bash will benefit the Diabetes Assistance Initiative – a program of the Lakewood Hospital Diabetes and Endocrine Center.

In addition to medication, the program also pays for diabetes testing equipment and education.

“They’re very friendly and cordial,” Hathaway said. “They’re always willing to help. When I call (the center) and I need information, or co-pay for my medicine, (they’re) very diligent about getting that for me.”

Those unable to attend the event, but would still like to support the Diabetes Assistance Initiative, are encouraged to call the Lakewood Hospital Foundation at 216-529-7009.
