- A man died and a firefighter and a police officer were injured in a condo fire in nearby Rocky River on Thursday. At around 4:00 p.m., fire crews were called to the River Hill Condos on Detroit Road in Cuyahoga County. The 52-year-old unidentified man died in the fire, which still remains under investigation, according to police. (WDTN)
- The Lakewood Public Library is taking part in National Library Card Sign-Up Month this September. Every month, the library registers between 350-400 new people, however, that figure jumps during September with more than 600 new cards issued. “I think a lot of people just drive past the library,” Suzanne Weber, Lakewood Public Library public services manager said. “We’re just trying to remind people we’re here.” (cleveland.com)
- Cuyahoga County residents can leave the masks at home! For the second week in a row, residents in the county will not need to mask up, as Cuyahoga County remains in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) medium community spread level for COVID-19. This means case numbers and hospitalizations are not high enough for health experts to recommend face coverings for those in indoor public spaces. While the CDC has relaxed guidelines, masks are still recommended for people living in "high" counties, regardless of vaccination status. (WKYC)
