Tabletops and Trifles Sale 'A Huge Success'

Lakewood Historical Society's second-annual sale continues from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Nicholson House, at 13335 Detroit Avenue.

The word of Tabletops and Trifles is spreading. 

's second-annual sale — featuring such items as heirloom china, gleaming silver, crisp table linen, vintage hats, purses, lingerie — made as much money in one afternoon as it did in two days last year.

, the event co-organizer, who , called the event “a huge success.”

The sale continues from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Nicholson House, at 13335 Detroit Avenue. 

“People commented on the quality of the items, the attractiveness of the display, and the reasonableness of the prices, which is very rewarding to the volunteers who put in so much time and effort because that's exactly the goal we're trying to achieve,” said Reed. “It's great that we can raise money for the Historical Society, recycle very worthwhile things, and make people happy, too.”

The biggest seller?

Vintage hats, said Reed. 

“We sold the majority of them in the first half-hour of the sale,” Reed said. “People who come (Saturday) will still feel they have a good array of choices.  And there is lots of good stuff left — some of it just didn't get seen today because of the overwhelming amount of stuff we started out with.”
