Virginia Marti College Ditches Its Application Fee
School on Detroit Avenue cites "tough times" for the move.

Citing tough financial times for its applicants, on Detroit Avenue announced this week that it’s getting rid of its $50 application fee.
According to a news release, the college has received “several” requests from teachers and counselors requesting the change.
“It’s apparent everywhere that times are tough and money is tight for a lot of families right now — especially families who are hoping to send their kids to college,” said Quinn Marti, the school’s director of admissions.

“We wanted to take the burden off the applicants and make it a little easier to apply to any of our five degree programs, so the removal of the application fee seemed a benevolent step towards helping these students out."
The elimination of the fee at VMCAD — an art and design school — went into effect April 9.
