WEWS: Melt to Host a Party for Tonight's TV Appearance

Detroit Avenue restaurant to be featured on The Food Network's "The Best Thing I Ever Ate."

Lakewood-based is a big deal.

Known for its gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, Melt opened its doors on Detroit Avenue in 2006. Its celebrity status has grown since.

Melt will appear on tonight’s episode of The Food Network’s “The Best Thing I Ever Ate,” WEWS reported this morning.

Celebrity pastry chef Anne Thornton will have her hands full, as she tackles “The Godfather,” a sandwich stuffed with three-cheese lasagna, spicy red sauce, fresh fennel-oregano pasta sheets and provolone on garlic-spiked bread. 

The sandwich is $11.50.

The restaurant is hosting a premiere party at 8 p.m. at its Detroit Avenue location, as well as the new Cleveland Heights spot.

WEWS reports that the party will feature draft beer for $1 and, of course,  “The Godfather” as its featured selection.

The third Melt location is set to open its doors in in Independence next Friday.
