Three nationally-recognized speakers will be coming to Marietta to discuss NEW information, including their research on injection wells, water contamination and protection, and the state of Ohio and its history of lax enforcement and oversight of oil and gas waste.
- Justin Nobel is an award-winning environmental journalist and author of Petroleum-238
- Ted Auch, PhD, is a researcher focusing on the wate, water, and land-use footprint of the unconventional oil and gas build-out across the Midwest.
- John Stolz, PhD, is a professor in the department of Biological Sciences at Duquesne University, chair of the department of Environmental and Engineering, and the former director of the the Center for Environmental Research and Education.
Washington County has accepted over 2.8 billion gallons of this toxic, radioactive wastewater between 2010-2024. That equals 4,313 Olympic swimming pools. With the 4 active injection wells injecting waste around Marietta (within just 2 miles of the source water protection area!) and Warren Township daily, and with the 3 additional injection wells proposed, how much more can the area take before a disaster happens?
Experts have already reported that this is a BAD IDEA. We've got documentation stating this. Washington County has 19 permitted and 17 active Class II injection wells. Come and learn more about the facts, and see what you can do to protect this beautiful, historic land among the Appalachian foothills.
