Arianna Huffington: Five Things Female Entrepreneurs Should Know

Get more sleep, don't get discouraged or be afraid to fail, said Arianna Huffington at the CBC Magazine Female Entrepreneur Summit in Mayfield Village Wednesday.

Do you charge your phone by your bed?

Well, stop it!

Why? You'll be tempted to check your email which will hamper your ability to get a good night's sleep. Not only will that sap your energy, but it can also adversely affect your health, said Arianna Huffington, president and editor-in-chief of the AOL Huffington Post Media Group.

As the keynote speaker at the CBC Magazine Female Entrepreneur Summit at the Beta Banquet and Conference Center in Mayfield Village Wednesday, Huffington offered some more advice for women just starting their entrepreneurial careers.

  • Get plenty of sleep. Even if that means a nap in the afternoon.
  • Don't get discouraged. Focus on the overall trajectory of your success, not the little bumps along the way.
  • Don't be afraid to fail -- because it can prevent you from discovering what you are truly capable of. Reach out to your friends who will support your right to fail, not those who love you so much they can't bear to see it.
  • Give back to the community -- it is very healing.
  • You can complete a project by dropping it. You don't have to make the cookies. You can just buy them.
