Fox and Hound to Add Outdoor Patio

1,200-square-foot space would be behind building

restaurant at Eastgate shopping center received City Council approval of site plans for a 1,200-square-foot addition for an outdoor patio.

Andrew Hoffman, legal counsel for Eastgate owners Cosmo Management, told council on Monday that the intent is to open the patio this summer.

To make room for the addition, trash bins that were behind several businesses in that area will be moved behind an enclosed wall on the other side of traffic lanes. That was a concern for Mayor Greg Costabile, who voted against the site plan when it was before the Planning Commission, which approved the plan by a 3-1 vote.

"The concern I had was the location – moving trash receptacles," Costabile said at Monday's meeting. "The line of traffic is in between the patio and the trash receptacles."

He added that garbage trucks would extend into the traffic lines when they came for collection.

"There is enough room for a car to get around if a truck was there," Hoffman said.

The patio will not be covered. If Fox and Hound wanted to add something overhead, plans would have to be approved by the Architectural Board of Review, Hoffman said.
