Golden Gate Plaza Parking Lot Work Being Done

Access will change to improve traffic flow

Work has started on a project to reconfigure the portion of the Golden Gate Plaza parking lot near Mayfield Road.

"They want to change the traffic pattern closest to Mayfield Road," Building Commissioner Thomas Jamieson said. "They redid most of the parking lot in the middle some time ago."

When finished, there will be basically a semi-circle between the east and west parking lot entrance/exit lanes.

"This is going to be better all the way around. This should flow much better," Jamieson said.

The site plan, prepared by FMD Architects Inc., was approved by City Council in May. Mayor Gregory Costabile said the majority of the plan was similar to what was submitted in the past, but never implemented.

Plans also include new signs on the north and east elevations and a new ground sign that will be parallel to Mayfield Road and feature names of tenants.

"We think it's all going to be a vast improvement to the way Golden Gate looks," Jamieson said.
