We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

 You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Look for the kids’ planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips — just add them to the comment box. We want to hear from you!

Lucky Friday the 13th

Where/When: Cleveland Metroparks North Chagrin Reservation Nature Center, 7-8:30 p.m. Friday
Why Go: Evening hike and campfire. Observe as the marsh turns from day to night and animals retire and others come out

Why Go: Children in grades six to 12 watch anime and discuss their favorite books and shows

Family Karaoke Night

Where/When: Seekers Coffee House & Cafe, 9443 Mentor Ave., Mentor, 6-9 p.m. Tuesday
Why Go: A night of karaoke jukebox singing on a real stage
Price: Singing passes cost $2 for ages 12 and older, $1 for 11 and younger

ACT Test Strategies 101

Why Go: Learn how to score higher on admissions tests using Kaplan strategies
