Grab & Go Kids Planner

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

 Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Look for the kids’ planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips — just add them to the comment box. We want to hear from you!

Campout in the Park

Where/When: Cleveland Metroparks North Chagrin Reservation, 6:30 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday
Why Go: Children ages 6 and older with an adult can set up tents and participate in outdoor activities and a continental breakfast in the morning

Movie Under the Stars

Where/When: Mayfield Heights City Park, at dusk on Thursday
Why Go: Free outdoor showing of Despicable Me – bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on
Price: Free

Paul Gerber, Magician

Where/When: Cuyahoga County Public Library Mayfield Branch, 6080 Wilson Mills Road, 7 p.m. Thursday
Why Go: Mr. Paul the Magician will amaze and entertain children and adults
Price: Free – no registration required

Summer Reading Kickoff Event

Where/When: Cuyahoga County Public Library Gates Mills Branch, 1491 Chagrin River Road, 3-5 p.m. Saturday
Why Go: Celebrate the start of the summer reading game, listen to a steel drum sounds of Ron Kearns and enjoy crafts and refreshments

Trail Trackers: Creek Walk

Where/When: Cleveland Metroparks North Chagrin Reservation Nature Education Building, 10-11 a.m. or 1-2 p.m. Thursday
Why Go: Children age 3 to kindergarten with an adult can cool off with a walk in Buttermilk Creek – parents must accompany children in the water
