Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Look for the kids’ planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips — just add them to the comment box. We want to hear from you!

Family Storytime

Where/When: Cuyahoga County Public Library Gates Mills Branch, 1491 Chagrin River Road, Wednesday, 7-8 p.m.
Why Go: Stories, songs and fun for ages 2 to 6 with a caregiver.

Gates Awesome Teens

Where/When:  Cuyahoga County Public Library Gates Mills Branch, 1491 Chagrin River Road, Thursday, 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Why Go: Pizza, music, games and crafts for grades five and up.

Music Carnival and Observation Day

Where/When: Church of the Western Reserve, 30500 Fairmount Blvd., Pepper Pike, Sunday, 3-5 p.m.
Why Go: String students of Ann Cirvencic at Fairmount Center of the Arts will showcase their techniques with a carnival twist.

Families Explore: Vernal Pool

Where/When: Cleveland Metroparks North Chagrin Reservation, Saturday, 10-11:30 a.m.
Why Go: Naturalist Angelec Hillsman will lead an exploration of the vernal pools in the reservation. Learn what they are, the critters that depend on them and why they are important.

Kenya Safari — Through the Eyes of Children

Where/When: Cleveland Metroparks North Chagrin Reservation, Saturday, 7:30-9 p.m.
Why Go: Muizz, 11, and Aziz, 9, Hassanali will share the experience of a safari in Kenya during the Great Migration.
