Grendell Bill Honoring Thibodeau Passes Senate

Would name portion of U.S. Route 322 for soldier killed in action

Senate Bill 187, introduced by state Sen. Tim Grendell, R-18, passed unanimously in the Senate on Wednesday and will head to the House for passage.

The bill would designate a portion of U.S. Route 322 in Geauga County the "Chief Warrant Officer Christopher R. Thibodeau Memorial Highway" in honor of the Chester Township resident, who died on May 26 while on a combat mission in Afghanistan.

"Chief Warrant Officer Christopher Thibodeau paid the ultimate price while serving his country,” said Grendell.  “While we will never be able to fully express our gratitude to him, creating this memorial highway in his honor is one small way we can show our respect and thanks for the courage and sacrifice of this remarkable man. It is our sincere hope that creating this memorial highway will be a source of comfort to those who loved and cherished him, including his wife, LeeSandra, and his parents, Bob and Doreen, who reside in Chesterland.”
