Highland Heights Has Shred Day on Saturday
Computer parts, household hazardous waste also being collected

Highland Heights' annual Shred Day will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday – just in time to get rid of all the old paperwork found while preparing tax returns.
As a bonus this year, the city will also be taking hazardous waste and computer parts as well on Shred Day.
"We're going to try and do a one-stop shopping thing," Service Director Thom Evans said.
All items should be brought to the Service Department. Paper brought for shredding should not be in plastic bags, but there is no need to remove staples, binder clips or paper clips.
Household hazardous waste being collected includes adhesives such as roof tar and driveway sealant, antifreeze, motor oil, compact fluorescent light bulbs, car batteries, household cleaners, kerosene, gasoline, lighter fluid, oil-based paints and primers, paint thinner, pesticides and varnishes.
Latex paint is not considered a hazardous material and should be dried and placed with the regular rubbish collection.
Hazardous waste can also be dropped off at the Service Department between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. weekdays from May 2 to May 13. A second Saturday hazardous waste round-up will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 14.
Computers, cell phones, cables, keyboards, monitors, printers and printer cartridges, central processing units, mice, modems, terminals, software and accessories will also be collected on Saturday. The computer round-up will continue through April, which is Recycle Your Computer Month. Residents can drop off items at the Service Department from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays during the month of April.
