Lure of $1 Million Doesn't Hook Woman into Sending Money

An elderly woman on Thornapple Drive told police at 6:15 p.m. April 19 that she received a call saying she won $1 million. The person wanted her to send money before she would be sent her winnings. She did not provide any personal information, but was concerned because the person has her name and number. Police told her to just hang up if the person called again.
A 2-year-old girl had part of an Easter basket stuck in her leg at 10:28 p.m. April 24 on Battles Road. She was taken to Hillcrest Hospital.
Dispatch at the police station reported the need for a new coffee maker as one overflowed again at 11 a.m. April 24. A worn-out mechanism was no longer keeping coffee from overflowing.
Police were called about a man who was sleeping at 2:46 p.m. April 24 in a parking lot at Mayfield High School. A family member came to pick the man up.
A three-vehicle accident was reported at 1:35 p.m. April 22 on SOM Center Road. A man told police that his car was hit from behind and pushed into a trailer. He said the people involved exchanged information, but he wanted a police report as well.
A woman walked into the police station at 3:08 p.m. April 19 and said her son was grabbed and choked by another student. Police said the school was aware of the incident and both students had been suspended.
A caller said people in a pickup with ladders on the back followed her mom on Seneca Road and stopped a few houses away. Police talked to a man who said he was trying to find out where the woman lives because she owes money for work he had performed. The woman told police that she knows the man, but she does not owe him any money.
A Wilson Mills Road veterinary service said a person dropped off a cockatiel that was found flying around outside Progressive Insurance and was obviously someone's pet. The bird was believed to have been found by the SOM Center Road campus.
