Mayfield Heights Police Searching for Bank Robber

Huntington Bank on SOM Center robbed on Monday

police are searching for a man who robbed Huntington Bank, 1314 SOM Center Road, at 2:33 p.m. Monday.

Executive Lt. Steven Ondercin said the suspect was described as a white man in his mid-20s about 5 feet 8 inches tall.

"He handed the teller a note demanding money and she complied," Ondercin said. "No weapon was seen and no one was hurt."

He added that witnesses did not see if the suspect fled on foot or got into a car, although he might have been driving a silver Saturn. Police from Mayfield Heights and nearby communities searched the area for the suspect but did not find him.

Although there have been bank robberies in surrounding cities in recent months, the man in Monday's incident is not considered a suspect in those robberies.

"Not according to the FBI," said Lt. Chris Sonnhalter of the Mayfield Heights Police Department Detective Bureau.
