Mayfield Heights Resident Arraigned on Aggravated Vehicular Homicide Charge

Enters not guilty plea in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

Matthew Wiggins, 33, of Mayfield Heights pleaded not guilty of aggravated vehicular homicide and driving while under the influence of drugs at his arraignment today in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

Bond for Wiggins was continued at $10,000 and the case was assigned to Judge Janet Burnside, a spokesman for County Prosecutor Bill Mason's office said.

Prosecutors said that on July 7, Wiggins was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Interstate 480 in Garfield Heights and lost control of his car, crossing several lanes of traffic. A passenger, Jonathan Timko, 29, died after the car headed into oncoming traffic and hit a car headed west. The occupants of that car were a 49-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl.
