Mayfield High School Honors Its Top Scholars
Academic achievements of 2011 class are recognized
Top students from the class of 2011 at were recognized at an Honors Day assembly.
Megan Kuhlman, Student Council president, announced the Senior Class Man and Woman of the Year – Rob Razzante and Stephanie Buda – at the assembly on May 27.
Principal James A. Loewer named five students from the 2011 class who will be honored in the school's Academic Hall of Fame, created 19 years ago to honor academic achievements.
They are:
Andrew Haling, a National Merit Scholar with a 4.57 grade point average. He was also a member of the varsity cross country and track teams and PRIDE.
Ilya Gorodetskov, a National Merit Scholar who plans to study computer science at Kent State University.
Philip House, a National Merit Scholar with a 4.33 GPA. He was also a member of PRIDE, Key Club and is an Eagle Scout.
Corey Blackwell, who had the second-highest GPA and is class salutatorian. He was a member of the varsity track and football teams.
Lance Sterle, class valedictorian with a 4.8 GPA. He was also captain of the swim team and twice qualified for the state competition.
The assembly also featured the presentation of more than 60 scholarships awarded to Mayfield High School students.
