Mayfield & Highland Heights Earn Share of Green Grants
The recycling grants were created by the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District to help promote and expand recycling in the county.

On Wednesday, the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District announced the recipients of its 2013 Community Recycling Awareness grant Recycling Container grant.
The good news is Mayfield Heights, Highland Heights and Lyndhurst all made the cut.

Mayfield Heights will receive $4,402 in funding for a recycling flyer and to conduct two shred days.
Highland Heights will get $2,620 to pay for city signage to promote special waste collections.

Lyndhurst will get $1,486 to fund the purchase of public recycling containers and to conduct a shred day.
The grants total $221,338, and were awarded to 38 communities and 33 schools and non-profit organizations throughout the county, according to Diane Bickett, the executive director of the CCSWD.
"Grants will be used to establish recycling programs in schools and workplaces; purchase recycling containers for city parks and ball fields; and to educate residents about community recycling programs," said Bickett.
