Sentence Pending for Mayfield Man Convicted of Seducing 12-Year-Old for Sex
Varun Trivedi's sentencing date has been continued for a third time.

A Mayfield Heights man convicted of trying to seduce a young girl for sex online continues to await sentencing.
Varun Trivedi, 26, had his sentencing date continued Wednesday for the third time since he convicted in March on two charges of importuning, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor spokeswoman Maria Russo said. A new date has not yet been set.
Trivedi was referred to a psychological clinic in March, according to his court docket. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
Between Dec. 22, 2011, and April 26, 2012, Trivedi chatted online with a person he thought he was a 12-year-old girl and repeatedly inquired about meeting her in person, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office.
Trivedi also described the sexual acts he wanted to perform with the would-be victim, prosecutors said. What he did not know is the "girl" in question was an agent for the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
On April 26, 2012, Trivedi showed for the scheduled meeting with the girl. However, he was met by authorities and arrested without incident.
