Mayfield Middle School Students Donate Hair & Money In The Fight Against Cancer

The Cleveland Browns are also helping in the annual event

The students Mayfield Middle School have teamed up to support one of their teachers and others like her who are fighting against cancer.

Friday, April 26, seventh and eight graders will be cutting and shaving their hair so they can donate it to the Beautiful Lengths collection center in Strongsville.

Additionally, the students have collected about $2,000 in donations for the American Cancer Society.

Students have been raising funds and donating their hair for the last three years. The event was organized and created by teacher Adam Yasenosky.

However, this year the Beautiful Lengths collection has a special meaning.

Friday's event is dedicated to middle school teacher Amy Miller, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in September and has been receiving treatment during the last several months.

Miller said she was honored and touched by the students' support.

Former Cleveland Browns linebacker Frank Stams is also attending the fundraiser to show his support -- both for the students and for the cause.

Additionally, Browns players have donated autographed footballs, photos, jerseys, helmets and more to the event.
