Mayfield Sets Deadline for Kindergarten Registration

The deadline for kindergarten registration is April 15 for Mayfield City Schools.

Students preparing to enter kindergarten  are required to be five years old by the August 31 of the year they plan on starting kindergarten. 

For children to be granted early entrance into kindergarten they will receive a multi-factored assessment to determine the appropriateness of early entrance.  This assessment would be conducted by the Mayfield City Schools.

If parents have a child who turns five after the August 31 deadline, and want them to be considered for early entrance, please be aware of these very important dates:

• Notify in the Director of Special Pupil Services in writing by April 15 stating your child’s name and birth day and your reason for requesting early entrance in kindergarten.
• By the beginning of May, you will be contacted by a school representative to discuss the request, and if appropriate, schedule the multi-factored assessment.
• By the end of May, you will be notified in writing of the decision as to whether your child would be appropriate for early entrance, and the process for appeal if you were to disagree with the decision.
