Mayfield Village Has a new Director

Administrator Diane Wolgamuth is promoted to new position

has created the new position of director of administration to recognize the work done by Administrator Diane Wolgamuth.

"She has been exceptionally effective," Mayor Bruce Rinker said after Mayfield Village Council approved the new position on Monday. "She is very diplomatic. She is book smart. She is people smart."

Rinker said Wolgamuth deals regularly with village department heads and her position should be at a corresponding level.

The promotion will also mean a raise from $67,000 to $86,000 annually, which is the low end of the wage scale for department heads.

"My job is not going to change very much, it's just going to be at a department head level," Wolgamuth said.

She said her position essentially is serving as the mayor's chief of staff, with other department heads flowing information through her.

"I have worked very hard to create that," Wolgamuth said. "I was really pleased that they recognized it."

Wolgamuth was hired by the village in 2005 and worked for four years as a secretary with the service department.

"I learned so much from being on that side of the village," she said.
