Mayfield Village Pool Preparation on Tight Schedule
Wet weather is posing problems

may not be able to get maintenance done before the scheduled June 10 opening of Parkview Pool.
All the rain has been causing problems, said Recreation Director Bill Thomas. At a recent village council meeting, he said the soccer fields were used once since April 4, there were only two nights of softball and work can't be done to prepare the pool for summer.
"This really has been an unbelievable spring," Thomas said on Monday. "We really can't do any of the maintenance we need to do."

At Monday's meeting, council approved paying $7,200 to Kapton Caulking to caulk the pool and $3,000 to Sherwin-Williams for paint.
Service Director Douglas Metzung said the contractor is confident that the caulking can be done in time.

"He assured me that he'll be able to get it done by the end of the month," Metzung said. "You need dry weather, but he said if they have one good day they can do it."
Thomas said it there's not enough time left for painting, that can be done in the fall. The shallow end of the pool, preschool wall and diving well are scheduled to be painted.
