'Moms Talk' Q & A: How Do You Know You're Ready for Children?

Each week the council will answer a question on parenthood posed to them by readers or another member of council.

This week, the Moms Council addresses the question of how you know you're ready to have children.

Kim Zannetti: Does anyone really know that they are ready for kids?  I guess we just felt that we had a chance to do our own thing before we were married. After we had bought a house and had somewhat "established" ourselves, we began our family.

I love my mom's response though – "If everyone waited for the 'perfect' time to have kids, the human race would die out in a hurry."  I guess it depends on how committed you are, and how much you really want a family.
