'Moms Talk' Q & A: What are the holiday traditions your family celebrates?
Every family has its own way of celebrating the holidays.

Each week the council will answer a question on parenthood posed to them by readers or another member of council.
This week, the Mom Councils members talk about family holiday traditions.
In my family, there are traditional baked goods – kolacky and my favorite, pinwheel cookies. A strange tradition also started from my tendency as a teenager to wear my favorite shirts down to the last thread. Someone in my family would buy me a replacement every year and in order to claim it I would wear the old one and it would be torn off of me. You never know what's going to become a tradition I guess.

Anyway, let's see what the Moms Council members have to say on this subject.
Susan Jerome: We bake cookies. Everyone gets to pick their favorite one and we make sure those are made. We also go see the Christmas lights at Public Square, at Nela Park, and other spots of interest.

Our decorating begins on Thanksgiving weekend when we all help decorate the tree and the house although as the children get older, having them all home at the same time is getting more difficult! Of course we make sure we put out our nativity set to keep us focused on the true meaning of Christmas and shop for those of us who are less fortunate.

I don't know if you lived in Cleveland when you were young but a favorite memory for me was going downtown to see Mr. Jing-a-Ling and having lunch there. You would get turkey, mashed potaoes, and corn in a cardboard stove (for the girls) or a cardboard truck (for the boys). I really miss that and wish my children could have experienced it.
Kim Zannetti: I think my favorite tradition is the tree. Packing some cocoa and warm cinnamon buns, getting in the car with the carols, and finding the perfect tree. We also have to take a picture of all of us in front of the tree.
Attending Christmas Eve mass, coming home and opening one gift. I think the most important traditions are the little ones. ...baking orange rolls for Christmas breakfast.
