Ohio Connections Academy Recognizes Lyndhurst Student

COLUMBUS, OH -- Lerry McClarity, of Lyndhurst, was recently named one of Ohio Connections Academy’s (OCA) Star Students of the Month for April in recognition of his hard work and leadership in the online classroom.

Lerry, a first grader at the statewide online public charter school, was nominated by his teacher, Ms. Hanley, because of his hard work and the positive attitude he brings to class.

As a Star Student, Lerry will be presented a certificate recognizing his achievement and be profiled in Ohio Connections Academy’s student newsletter and on the school’s social media platforms. Each month during the school year OCA will recognize students in grades K through 12 who are excelling in the virtual classroom.

“The faculty, staff and members of the board at Ohio Connections Academy are proud to recognize students like Lerry and the commitment they demonstrate to our school and their community,” said OCA Superintendent Marie Hanna. “Each of our Star Students is a leader in the classroom and demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to learning – they truly deserve this recognition.”

Lerry has been attending the online school since he entered Kindergarten because his mother, Farrah, favored the online program and the flexibility it provides. According to Farrah, her favorite thing about Ohio Connections Academy is the relationship she has with the teachers and how far they will go to help caretakers or learning coaches.

“I love Connections Academy because their flexible schedule allows caretakers to spend more time connecting and teaching their student,” Farrah said. “I also love how I can easily contact the teachers if I have any questions or concerns.”
