Parkview Pool Was the Place to Be in July

Hot weather led to increase in admissions

After a slow June, rising temperatures in July also brought a rise in attendance at Parkview Pool in .

In June, total admissions were 2,891, compared to 5,308 in June 2010. Relatively cool weather and lots of rain were viewed as contributing to the decline, said Bill Thomas, director of Parks and Recreation.

That all changed in July, when hot weather brought 9,399 pool admissions for the month. That compares to 9,031 in July 2010.

Overall, single admissions are at 12,290 through the end of July, down from 14,339 at the same point in 2010. There were an additional 4,827 admissions in August 2010 for a seasonal total of 19,166.

Parkview Pool will close for the season on Sunday.
