Police Blotter: Chase Ends in Crash, Trip to Hospital

Wickliffe police chased a car into Mayfield Village at 3:11 p.m. March 2. The suspect's car crashed at Derby Drive and Beechers Brook. There were two men in the car and one was trapped. The man was freed and both suspects were taken to Hillcrest Hospital.
Police were called to Seneca Road at 12:15 p.m. March 4 for an unruly juvenile. A 12-year-old boy had an argument with his mother while on visitation and was packing like he intended to leave. Officers went to the residence and settled the matter without the need for a report.
A Meadowood Drive woman called 911 and hung up at 10:47 p.m. March 3. Police called her back and she said a 17-year-old daughter was trying to run away. She tried to leave by driving over the lawn to get by other cars. The girl ran out of the back door when police arrived. However, she didn't have car keys and came back a couple of minutes later. The mother said she'd call back if there were any more problems.
A car went off the road and into a ditch on Interstate 271 northbound near Wilson Mills Road at 5:36 p.m. March 2. There were no injuries, but Ohio Department of Transportation works needed to use a winch to get a man out of the car. He was cited for lack of full time and attention.
There was box of clothes in the roadway at 11:55 a.m. March 2 between the local and express lanes on Interstate 271 northbound. Police said the box on the side of the road in case the owner returned.
A school resource officer asked for someone to go to the bike path near Mayfield High School at 6:52 a.m. Feb. 29 to talk to a group of juveniles who gathered in the area and get them to move along. Police also were told that a truck might be taking scrap from the construction area. The scrap hauler had been given permission by school officials.
Officers were sent to Washington Drive at 3:14 p.m. Feb. 27 to talk to a student about a comment left on Facebook. The female who found the comment on Facebook also came to the police station to file a report.
