Police Blotter: Keys Flew Out Car Window on Highway

A woman dressed in black was walking on the shoulder of Interstate 271 at 3:49 p.m. Sept. 11. She was looking for something in the grass. Police said the item was a house key attached to an Ohio State lanyard that flew out the window. A storm was coming and they gave up the search.

A Derby Drive resident said a woman came out of a nearby house at 3:23 p.m. Sept. 11 and when a neighbor saw her, the woman asked if the house was for sale. There was no "for sale" sign, so the neighbor thought the incident was suspicious.

A councilman called police at 12:28 p.m. Sept. 11 after seeing a juvenile sitting on a lawn chair on top of some type of utility box at SOM Center and Wilson Mills roads. He didn't think that was safe. Police said the juvenile was one of a group holding signs for a mattress sale and he was told to remove his lawn chair from the traffic box.

A caller said an older rusty red van driven by a balding man in his 40s followed a 12-year-old girl riding a bike at 4:13 p.m. Sept. 10 on Sandalwood Drive and gave her the creeps. He smiled at her and then she rode up her drive. Police were unable to find the van.

A caller at 2:16 p.m. Sept. 8 at a Beta Drive business complained that employees from a neighboring company kept walking in a restricted area after being told twice not to do so. Police said the problem was resolved when an employee was told by a supervisor that he would be found if he didn't stay off the other company's property.

A Beta Drive business called at 11:14 a.m. Sept. 8 about prank calls that have been received for a year, usually in the evening. The calls were routed through New Zealand.
