Police Blotter: Lifelike Geese Were Convincing to Caller

A caller at 10:29 a.m. April 3 was concerned about the welfare of two geese in the area of Gates Mills Boulevard and said one was alive and one was dead. Police checked and the geese were plastic replicas.
A car fire was reported at 11:30 a.m. April 9 on Battles Road. Police and fire units were sent to the scene and the fire was extinguished by members of the volunteer fire department. The owner of the car, a 31-year-old Mentor-on-the-Lake man, said he called 911 after seeing smoke coming from the engine. He said the fire might be related to recent mechanical work on the car.
