Police Blotter: Man Wants Finder's Fee for Phone

A man called police at 4:05 p.m. Aug. 6 said he was paying his bill at a Mayfield Road restaurant/bar the previous night and his phone was stolen. He set keys and the phone down on the bar and another person saw a drunken man who had been passing out business cards pick up the phone. He told police that he called the phone and the man who took it said, "If you want your phone, it will cost you $100." Police are investigating the incident.

A Lander Road man said at 12:27 a.m. Aug. 6 that he was called by a friend who said two men were in his driveway and took a purse from another friend's car.

A fight was reported in the parking lot of a Mayfield Road bar at 2:12 a.m. Aug. 6. A caller said a man was bleeding from the head. Police talked to a man who had a broken hand and a cut above his eye and were send to Moreland Hills to talk to the other person involved in the fight.

A Mayfield Road apartment resident called at 9:38 a.m. about a car alarm that had been going off since the previous night. Police spoke to a woman who said she would try to get the alarm fixed.

A boy called at 7:19 p.m. Aug. 4 from Woodhurst Avenue and said his grandfather was being mean to him. Police spoke to the grandfather and the boy, who agreed to go to his room for the evening.
